Ambulatory urgent care medicine is one of the largest growing practices in the United States. The demand is driven by 85% of the population who are healthy. When they have a medical need, they want it treated now, want it convenient and affordable.
Urgent Care offices occupy a niche between the acute care services of a hospital emergency room and the physician office requiring an appointment. Urgent Care centers address problem-based medicine; episodic and acute conditions that generally require only a single visit for resolution. Patients present with such problems as minor lacerations, fractures, upper respiratory infections, sore throats, ear infections, fevers, rashes, and contusions, etc.
The Urgent Care at Boulder Medical Center is staffed by physicians (mostly family practice and/or emergency room specialists) and nurses and reception staff.
Follow-up care is generally referred to the primary care providers and appropriate specialists.
Laboratory and radiology services are available and these services will have additional outside charges.
Boulder Medical Center's Urgent Care encounters are billed to insurance as an Office Visit.
