Dr. Cadora’s medical specialty is Diagnostic Radiology. This is a specialized field of medicine which utilizes x-rays, CAT scans, ultrasound and nuclear gamma cameras to image internal body structures. This imaging often allows detection of diseases, such as cancer, at a very early stage. For instance, a patient with abdominal pain might have an upper GI Series. X-rays of the stomach and intestines are taken after the patient drinks a milkshake of barium. This can diagnose ulcers, tumors or infections. Ultrasound utilizes an inaudible sound wave which produces images of structures inside the body. Ultrasound can diagnose gallstones, tumors, and is very helpful in making diagnosis for obstetrics and gynecology patients. Mammography is a radiographic exam of the breast which can detect breast cancer prior to the time that it can be felt as lump by the patient or her doctor. A full spectrum of imaging equipment in conjunction with all of the medical sub-specialists at Boulder Medical Center provides for the best quality health care at the most reasonable cost to the patient.
